due to a request (wave @jonbeydler) here is a screenshot of the controls settings i’m using.
I’m using off for most of the things to get more control over the targets i could choose. Potential changes that could work well too is to put “never auto target objects” and “Never auto target pets” to on, but so far i didnt encountered any problems in pve with it.
Keep in mind that these are just my settings, and everyone might need other settings than i prefere them, so play a bit around 😉
I’m always targeting something beside the one I need 😖😆
Can you put a screenshot of the ground controls too?
that would be more a request for soludor and tirius i would say 🙂
nearly the same i use, keep moving during contact dialogs..that nerfed me when the ship stooped during dialogs everytime:D
so anyone tried the sensor-linked weaps? dont know if plus 5 one something is worth to use
does the bonus stack if i use more then one?
you get 2% crtd for all your weapons. in best case (8 weapons) it would be 16% crtd. So a pure ap beam build would be better than a full set of those.
with the re-eng i can change (AC/DM) mod, but into what? (Critd/Dm) ?
What do you have against camera shaking ?
It makes you play bad and turns videos unwatchable.
Agreed with hellspawny.. simply put keep the visuals to as simple as possible this ensures speed and speed is key when dpsing high
Tabbing offscreen targets seems like it would be helpful, I am always tabbing and trying to find those nanite spears. I have to remember to disable target threatening enemies too.
Even at 2018 this is still a valuable thread! Hopefully not considered a necropost in this case as it’s still being referred to.
I have a question on how you target enemies. Do you select them with the mouse or let STO decide what’s next? Just curious.
Just FYI, I’m also seeing other play styles where Augmented Dictator on Youtube has auto-fire completely off in controls (and even on weapons–no green halo around the weapons) and spams the space bar to attack–with apparently no misfire loss and very high scores. Apparently, he has his third tray mapped to space bar with auto-fire at the beginning of the execution sequence. Very counter intuitive to what I’ve learned about auto-firing weapons.
About targeting. Selecting enemies manually is probably the best idea if you want to target specific (i.e. high-hp or boss) npcs. For everything else a keybind like
Tab “Target_Enemy_Near_ForArc 45” for i.e. cannons will do. It selects only enemies in front of you that you main guns can target, ignoring enemies which are behind you or out of arc.
As for manual fire. This only makes sense for torpedos. You’ll want to fire certain torps with high-yield, others with torp spread. For energy weapons this doesn’t make sense.
