Tenore’s Dranuur Scout Ship ViL

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Victory is Life!  With the new expansion, I decided to revisit a little different playstyle with a Exotic Torp set up on my Federation Science Captain.  I had toyed with this previously for a short while during Season 12 but found I didn’t enjoy or understand the style at the time and quickly abandoned the project.  With new ships, traits and equipment available and a different feel post Season 13 rebalance, I decided now would be a good time to try Exotic Torp again.  I wanted to make a build for the Dranuur Scout Ship as the console and boff layout seemed quite interesting to me as well as the fact that the ship also gains a raider flanking bonus that applies to both weapon and some exotic damage.  Previously I had run the meta 2 piece Temporal set with either a Colony Deflector or Bajoran Deflector modded to EPG x4.  With the advent of the Gamma Synergistic and Morphogenic set, I decided to break away from the mold and build on the foundation which others such as Eli and Forias had shared with the community previously.

My main testing ground for this ship was HSE with a little bit of Korfez thrown in for flavour.  The Dranuur Scout Ship performs admirably, playing like a CSV cannon Escort.  As a primarily energy DPS’er and cannon user the piloting for this ship came quite easily for me.  Avoid staying in place when durability boosts such as DPRM, RSP or Honored Dead are low or on cooldown as the hull is quite thin.  Use your mobility to position yourself to take advantage of the flanking bonuses on high HP targets.  This build receives a 6% CritH boost via the BO boff power which procs the Morphogenic set and also a 22.5% Cat 1 All damage boost via TS2 which are very nice boosts to an Exotic build.  The Gamma Synergistic 2 pieces provides a flight speed and turn rate bonus to the team and the 3 piece bonus boosts kinetic damage by 10% Cat 1 for the team and also provides a +10 accuracy boost as well.  The Gamma Synergistic Deflector is quite heavy on DrainX and ControlX and also provides a -15 Kinetic DRR debuff to targets hit by your torpedoes.  Recursive Shearing is taken to boost DPS when engaging high HP single targets but its reliant on the rest of the team to provide DPS to take full advantage.

This build is agile and sufficiently durable once some stacks of Honored Dead have been acquired and it also has a high DPS ceiling.  My current HSE exotic torp record is 313k, a full 25k higher than my previous record using the Son’a Science Collector Dreadnought.  I will continue to test and refine this build and concept, thanks very much for your interest and happy DPS’ing!

    thx for sharing Tenore 🙂

Question: Why Intel primary and not Temporal?

    • Tenore  says:

It should have been Temporal, it’s corrected now. Thanks

    Hi,

I’m curious about how consistent your Tech doffs proc. The likelihood of them procing seems pretty low considering there’s only a 3x 10% chance presumably every 15 seconds. In your experience do they (or at least one of them) proc every time you use EPtA?

    • Tenore  says:

They are inconsistent but if/when they do proc, the damage bonus is considerable. I’d say I have a proc at least once every 2 activations if not more.

      • Thor  says:

        I see, thanks Tenore.

Hi Tenore, thanks again for posting your builds and whatnot. They’ve been very helpful. I just started torpin’ and I’m having some issues deciding on a ship. I’m a sci captain and am using the T5U N’Kaam atm, I have all the items you’ve listed for this build besides the Gamma rep. Problem is I don’t know if I wanna go all in on EPG/kinetic/mix of both. What ships would you suggest KDF side to fill these roles?

    • Tenore  says:

My pleasure, I’m happy you’re getting some value out of the builds. As a Sci Captain especially, you’d benefit from running a full EPG/Torp set up. Generally an EPG/Torp build will out DPS and out perform a straight Kinetic boat. Hopefully the Kinetic boat captains will forgive me for saying that. Are you looking for T6 ships? Just KDF or Crossfaction? C-Store, Lobi or Lockbox?

      • Takoyaki  says:

Yup T6 ships. Was leaning towards the Dranuur scout on my KDF but no luck as of yet getting an invite to a T5 colony. I have enough zen to buy a ship/bundle but right now not enough EC to buy an exchange ship unless I sell off some of my zen for keys. As for science ships, Dranuur scout and the Eternal seemed like the two best options unless I missed some since I started searching. Tyvm for responding.

        • Takoyaki  says:

Forgot to mention faction. I was going to play this build on my KDF but Fed seems to have a wider variety of ships and I have a science character Fed side also so not really too hung up on faction. Crossfaction bundle would work or faction specific is fine too.

          • Tenore  says:

Eternal and the Dranuur Scout are 2 very strong ships; I prefer the Dranuur Scout personally but the Eternal is perhaps a bit more resilient and being a C-Store ship, can be shared across your account. The Eternal’s crossfaction 3 ship bundle also has access to a great Science DPS Trait, Exotic Modulation. If you’re getting started on the Exotic/Torp journey, I’d go for the Eternal and get the 3 ship bundle with the Temporal Dread and Temporal Raider as well.

  • Takoyaki  says:

Thank you very much. I will get all of them 🙂

    • Tenore  says:

      You’re welcome, good luck!
