Suggestions for Season 13

Hello everybody,

here are some suggestions and informations for season 13 builds.

General changes:

  • Embassy Plasma consoles are useless now. Change them to universal consoles like Bioneural Infusion Circuit (Lobi), Delphic Tear Generator (exchange/lockbox), Tachyokinetic Konverter (Lobi), Temporal Disentanglement Suite (Episode Reward), Zero Point Module (Romulan Reputation), Dynamic Power Redistributor Module (Atlas or Box from exchange), in general anything that boosts damage.
  • ALL Tactical Consoles slots should be filled with Locator Consoles from the Fleet Spire!
  • For beam/cannon builds you could still use the Iconian Set and a Fleet Spire Core with AMP. Or just use Nukara Deflector and Shield, Romulan or Prevailing Fortified Engine and a Fleet Spire Warpcore (or a Terran Core if you aren’t playing a Warbird).
  • Tactical Ultimate Skilltrees are highly prefered over Sci-Ultimate, Eng-Ultimate or “Balanced” skilltrees.
  • Specialization: Intel Primary and Strategist Secondary

Example Builds, might need to be adjusted for other Ships:

  • Nandos  says:

Aside the choice of slotting the Quantum Phase Set, that is perfect, my advice is you can even go back to the old DPS setup we used to run in the past:

Nukara Deflector and Shields (+2.5% Weapon Damage), Romulan Engines (+26.2 Starship Weapon Amplification at Mark 12 Very Rare) and Fleet Spire AMP Core, or the variant using Counter-Command Deflector and Nukara Engines and Shields, plus the Fleet Spire AMP Core.

Also, Iconian Space Set remains a good choice in solo contents and at most one player in a DPS run should still slot it for its team damage bonus.

    • Spica  says:

Nukara 2-piece set bonus is currently +5% cat2 All “Weapon” Damage these days.

  • weaselone  says:

Looks like the Nandi and Lukari are both still using the Temporal specialization as their primaries. Is that an oversight in the builds, or do the benefits from Temporal to those particular builds still outweigh the Intelligence Specialization even after the balance changes?

    • Hellspawny  says:

      Just leftovers.

      • Hyunmoo Sirius  says:

Now there is an Exotic/Torpedo build, made by Eli@e30ernest. so it would be a good example.

        • felisean  says:

you have a point here to add some of the latest releases here too 😉

  • Tenore  says:

Are you only using Strategist for cooldown reductions, aside from readiness and the Chrono capacitor rep trait? Krenim bridge officers?

    • felisean  says:

      for crth/crtd etc 🙂

Thats just more than the only def stuff from pilot as example

  • Tenore  says:

So essentially, you’re running the build as Drake with no cooldown reduction; everything is passive aside from AHOD?

  • Tenore  says:

    ie, no Threatening stance?

    • felisean  says:

switch into threatening stance every 30 seconds 🙂

But yes, dmg control engs are pretty good again, ahod for captain+sci stuff and tac ini and other reductions like frenzy, timeline for tac (and last 2 for the others too). this highly depend on the correct use of those abilities to work propperly

      • Tenore  says:

That makes sense, thanks very much!

  • r4n  says:

what about hull plating (energized ablative) isn’t this a must now after no fleet/combat buffs in s13?

    • Hellspawny  says:

If you’re feeling too squishy and don’t want to use s.t. like Console – Engineering – Enhanced Neutronium Alloy Mk X [EPS], Aux2ID or Aux2Sif it may work for you. But honestly, I don’t even have points in them on my PvP Eng let alone on my PvE tacs. I like to have nice GDFs.

  • wuascht  says:

is the scim 3 part set still worth to use? and the fbp ship trait just for the crit
boost which can be still huge

  • wuascht  says:

    thx 😀

  • Denial  says:

In the torpedo example above with lukari you still use the Embassy consoles.
Is it a mistake or we can still use them in torpedo setup?

    Thank you !

    • felisean  says:

Mistake, thanks for pointing that out. In that setup they were useless even b4 the patch because close to no energy weapons ^^

  • Electrum_Leopard  says:

Anything from the new Competitive Reputation worthy for equiping?

    • felisean  says:

      Atm it looks like no

      • Electrum_Leopard  says:

Well darn it. I was thinking about swapping out for the Iconian deflector for the Innervated one for the extra [CrtH].

        • felisean  says:

Depend a bit on the build, but for energy weapon based ones i prefere the quantum phase set 🙂

  • Yankı Göker  says:

Greetings mates, i ve been reading-inpecting your work for some time- kudos to you all- astounishing infos you got here 🙂

i got some questions if you dont mind:(my main is fed tac with ba-vengeance class ship)

1.could you round up all these suggested space sets, best to worst , ie: quantum phase> nukara def,rom eng, fleet amp core, nukara sh> iconian set etc..
    2. same for uni consoles pretty please :))
    3. im currently using vengeance class ship with 5 ap , terran dis, herald ap ba’s (+kcb) so which console ill benefit most? vul locator ap or beam?
4.is crtD dmg x3 better than crtD x3 pen now?
5.plasmonic leech and assimilated module still ok-or should i ditch them? also kcb?
6.i know this will be a pain in the arse, but (im wondering how you guys manage to get to 300-400k dps records-while im at all maxed up with all eqs, traits, boffs, etc to only make 62k dps-pre season 13 ofc) what is your boff power/abilities activation sequence/rotation?
7.i know tykens rift is very good now, so should i ditch gw 1 for tykens rift 2? (i got tykenrift 1 too so 2 copy is a good idea?)
8.best boffs for fed space dps ? i got 2 rom sro,1 naus,1 hierachy so what should be next one?
9-dps suggestion for hangar pets? i got elite obelisk, elite scorpion
10- just checking- topedoes still bad for dps?

Again, huge congratz to all you for all these years of testing, tinkering, competing and thank you very much,
    Cheers mates:)

    • Kyusoath  says:

Let me answer 6 for you, ultra high dps records come from an organized team where everyone is playing optimally. The gap is not in equipment but organization and player skill(largely positioning and timing) In a pug you can’t get those high numbers because theres no organization and you cannot depend on the other members knowing how to play, so things like ‘too much threat’ become a problem, for example if the other 4 players are retarded and you are essentially left to solo the whole thing which can mean you die due to taking all the damage while they don’t take any damage because you have all the threat.
      4 – i would assume [pen].
5 – too dependent on your build to answer, plasmonic leech still gives more power than anything else. Assim.module is still great bang for buck, and the kcb 2 piece was just buffed.
3 – if you mix energy types you should use +beam
8 – one of the boffs from k-13 fleet is the only real choice, possibly krenim boffs.
10 – torps are worse now than they were before.

Can’t really say about the other questions, but when it comes to ship sets/consoles investing heavily in all new stuff might leave you regretting it when some new thing comes out that is clearly better. that depends on how much dil/ec etc you have laying around. I got a feeling some new powercreep is in the pipeline, we have had 2 filler lockboxes full of garbage now and we are waiting for the tzenkethi ships, they must be timing their release for something else, like a new spec(the new ships use the new spec so they had to hold off on them until after the nerfs and introduction of the new spec)

Just speculation though, but a new spec seems overdue and they seem to be follow the delta rising pattern of nerfing everything then bringing in some new stuff, seems like thats cryptics way of handling powercreep, make everything worse first then make things better. There was some stuff ‘leaked’ about being able to change mods on weapons, imagine if you spent loads of ec on perfect mods now and then next month they let you change mods for comparatively small amount dil or something.

    • felisean  says:

Thanks for your questions, Kyusoath answered some of them already.

      1) quantum phase > iconian (because its still good and at least some people in a team should use it ^^) > rest
      2) depend a bit on the build, but Dynamic Power redistributor is pretty good and i would prefere it over tachyo/bioneural (they are quite equal) > rest
      4) any combination of crtd/dmg is fine for lockbox weapons, for crafted ones any combination of crtd/dmg + pen. A cheap start to get good weapons would be the advanced fleet weapons with crtd dmgx3. In general the more flat dmg buffs (alpha, gdf etc) you have the better dmg gets.
      6) Its a combination of positioning, useage of boff abilities, good build, a great team to support you and a lot of practice. In general we published a l-r isa guide in our guides section including skill activation orders for different positions. Its still based on the old abilities but not much changed at all. You might wanna have a look there 🙂
      7) only one Tykens because you reduce it to the shared CD with all hands on deck. GW and Tykens share a cooldown so you cant really use them at the same time.
      9) Not sure about the Vengeance pets atm, but scorps or swarmers are both a good choice. Just try them both and take the one you prefere 🙂

In case you have more questions, feel free to ask me (@felisean) or one of our other admins ingame 🙂

  • r4n  says:

I have a question about Quantum space 3pc set bonus. Energy Weapon Entanglement is cat1 ? if so isnt better to have nukara 2pc for 5% cat2 and ico shield for debuf with terran core + power levels instead on energy rom build?

    • Tenore  says:

The Quantum set is taking for the DrainX stats and the shield heal when using certain DrainX abilities. The Energy Entanglement is Cat 1.

      • felisean  says:

Its flat dmg (cat2 is that i guess) not base dmg. Thats why its awesome

        • Tenore  says:

Is it Cat 2? That would be quite strong if it is!

          • felisean  says:

            it is 😉

          • Hyunmoo Sirius  says:

According to Damage bonus category list updated on August 1, 2017, Energy Weapon Entanglement (3pc Quantum Phase Applications) is classified as Cat 1.

          • Hellspawny  says:

They changed it to base damage while the debuff is still flat. Nice work, Craptic.

        • Emergency Yeet Hologram  says:

          Hello,

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I’ve seen several people in this community mistakenly use the nomenclature “Base Damage” to refer to ∑SetA, or “Cat1” before. This is a very, very poor representation of how the math actually comes together, as Base Damage refers to something completely different than Cat1.

Base Damage is not a “Category,” rather, it is a number that is pre-determined by the thing that is dealing damage in the first place. Weapons such as Beam Arrays, Dual Cannons, Dual Heavy Cannons, Single Cannons, Dual Beam Banks, etc. each have their own unique base damage which is innate. A more accurate table of each weapon-type’s base damage can be found below:

          https://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/wiki/math/damage_categories#wiki_base_damage2

Category 1—also known as Cat1 or ∑A—is the most common damage category, mostly consisting of things such as skill bonuses and console bonuses (e.g., Vulnerability Locator’s damage bonus). Some set bonuses, such as the Iconian 3-pc./4-pc. And the Quantum Phase Applications 3-pc. provide Cat1 bonuses. Also factoring into Cat1 is Weapon Mark and Rarity, for example, a Mk XIV weapon will possess 230% Cat1 alone before weapon modifiers are factored into the equation.

Base Damage, then, has absolutely nothing to do with Cat1, and the two terms are most definitely not interchangeable. In fact, it is very poor notation considering both terms refer to completely different things. If you’d like to see how the entire damage formula comes together, take a look at this picture below.

          http://i.imgur.com/8eoeX7P.png

Secondly, I am not entirely sure where you get the term “Flat Damage” from, but is most definitely not an accurate way to describe what Cat2 is. My guess is you were attempting to equate the term “Flat Damage” to a Final Multiplier, but Cat2 is most definitely not composed of final multipliers, but is rather its own unique damage category similar to Cat1. Many things in the game are Cat2 bonuses, such as Captain Career powers (e.g., GDF, APA, Tac Fleet). In general, most Cat2 bonuses are “temporary” bonuses often activated by an active ability, such as the DPRM’s active ability (40% Cat2) and the AES’ active ability (30% or 45% Cat2 depending on health). There are also some examples of passive Cat2 bonuses, such as the Nukara 2-pc. (5% Cat2 all weapon damage). In general, things that give Cat2 boosts will often be noted as “Bonus Damage” in tooltips. There are a few legacy holdovers that still have yet to reflect this, but in general if you see the word “bonus damage” it is almost certainly gives a Cat2 Damage boost.

Lastly, there is a very easy way to tell definitively if something is Cat1 or Cat2 by adding/removing a buff and plugging the variables into a formula. See this post for more information, as well as how these variables come together: https://redd.it/6dbw4f

Using terms such as “Base Damage” and “Flat Damage” to refer to Cat1 and Cat2 is very poor notation and extremely misleading to anyone in your community that hopes to understand how the damage formula comes together. Furthermore, in the case of the Quantum Phase Applications 3-pc. it has never been a Cat2 buff on the live server. There was a time period of about ~1 week in which it was mistakenly a Cat2 buff on Tribble, but has never once gave a Cat2 buff on the live server.

At any rate, I realize the DPS League isn’t a math-centered community, but in this case it is patently incorrect to use the terms Base Damage and “Flat Damage” as you’ve consistently used them.

          • felisean  says:

its pretty simple, it was named bonus to “base dmg” (cat 1) and “flat damage” (cat 2) long before the cat 1/2 naming was introduced.

And to your thing with quantum phase, it was flat dmg (or cat 2 whatever you prefere). It was that buff type for a long time but now nerfed/changed. Sadly i dont have taken proof pictures.. memo to myself always take some ^^
The damage debuff is still cat 2.

          • Emergency Yeet Hologram  says:

IIRC that was a very long time ago that a Dev, who no longer works for the game, used notation similar to that.

The point I am making here is that using “Base Damage” to describe Cat1 is incredibly misleading. The two terms simply refer to different aspects of the damage formula that have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Devs also have a history of calling the Cat1/2 many different things. “Strength” and “Bonus” are another one they often use which is…even more confusing.

You do understand how using the term “Base Damage,” as you do, to describe what players refer to as Cat1/SetA is incredibly confusing and misleading, right? In fact, since the term Base Damage is already used as a descriptor for another type of innate damage a weapon has, it’s pure misinformation to use that term to refer to Cat1 buffs.

As for the Q-Phase set, it has never been, at any point, a Cat2 buff on Holodeck. The only time period it was ever a Cat2 buff was during ~1 week on Tribble, which was a mistake that was rectified. If you have math from Pre-S13 saying otherwise, I’d love to see it. 🙂

          • Hellspawny  says:

Well, we may not be a math-centered theoretical community like the one you mentioned, but we know how things work and don’t hesitate to proof how you translate it into action over and over again.

On the other hand, I’m maintaining my own weapon damage calculator since 2013. We used the terms base and flat back then. I disliked flat for obvious reasons and called it total. Not so great but better than Cat1 and Cat2 nonetheless. We could also call the different damage categories X, Y, Z or Elmo, Ernie and Kermit.

          • peterconnorfirst  says:

Lol as if I was ever mislead in this community. No need to call out a Reddit Math Geek Alert!

          • Emergency Yeet Hologram  says:

Well, in this case you have two leaders of the community falsely equating what many know as “Cat1” to Base Damage. Base Damage≠Cat1 and using the term “Base Damage” to describe the first linear damage category is incredibly misleading.

Personally, I don’t like the terms Cat1/Cat2 either, so I’m a fan of people calling the two linear damage categories whatever they like. However, it’s foolish to use a term such as “Base Damage” since it already references something else unrelated to the two damage categories.

Furthermore, “Flat Damage” implies something like a Final Multiplier (i.e., what it says is what you get) which is not an accurate descriptor for what some players call Cat2. Using the terms Base/Flat damage has the potential to give people the wrong idea or impression, and in fact I’ve seen people get confused by this terminology before.

I believe that’s the very definition of “misleading.”

            • peterconnorfirst  says:

In my opinion falsely equating and misleading is relative and in this case only applies to those who are imposed by some reddit vocabulary. Those who are not did not have a hard time to tell what Feli could have meant as far as the quantum phase set is concerned.

In any case it is funny to geek out over it to this extend, hence my reaction. 😀

          • Tirius  says:

Since both terms “Base Damage” and “Cat1” aren’t mentioned in the game like “Bonus Damage” for so-called “Cat2”, you can’t say that either definition is wrong.
I think it is more misleading to say one definition is true based on an unofficial wiki page.

          • Hellspawny  says:

If memory serves me right, it was a dev that “invented” the term base damage bonus in the official forums. Back in those days when we had just that plus some Cat2, flat or Ernie equipment like Nukara or Obelisk set and Nausicaan bridge officers. Math was quite simple back then. If your tooltip damage was 1.000, a +30% weapon console wasn’t +300 damage. And a 2,5% Bonus damage boost was exactly +25 damage. Heck, that stuff was even mixed up like +x% all damage or whatever.

Personally, I’d really appreciate a consolidation of all damage buffs into one type. I mean, it’s quite hard to understand that a weapon, that deals 1.000 damage and has +100 CrtD does less than 2.000 on a crit just because Bonus damage and critical severity are put into one basket.

But hey, what to expect from a dev team that adds +Acc stuff when accuracy overflow and fire at will are totally broken? And they know it.

          • Emergency Yeet Hologram  says:

Regardless of what a Dev says back then, here are two recent instances of Spartan himself using the term “Base Damage” to refer to an individual weapon’s Base Damage, and not to refer to the first linear damage category:

            https://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/comments/60qb1f/i_am_crypticspartan_the_designer_behind_the/df9p7a9/?context=3

            https://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/comments/6jjl69/weekly_questions_megathread_june_26_2017/djm5u69/?context=3

In both cases, Spartan is referring to the innate damage a weapon will provide, and not the linear damage category

While we’re at it, here’s Spartan again, except this time referring to the two damage categories:

            https://www.reddit.com/r/stobuilds/comments/60qb1f/i_am_crypticspartan_the_designer_behind_the/df8kp1i/?context=3

This is quite a long comment, but in point 5 he refers to the two damage categories and Cryptic’s attempt to make them more well-known in the tooltips. Here he refers to “Cat1” and “Cat2” being player-created notations, but notice how he never once referred to the first linear damage category as “Base Damage.” Notice he never once used the terms “Flat Damage” and “Base Damage,” in fact, he’s never used those terms to refer to the two damage categories, instead he references Cat1 and Cat2 as the player-created notations.

Nobody here is saying any one notation is true. In fact, the most “true” notations are probably Strength and Bonus, but that would never catch on. However, it’s still incredibly misleading to use the terms “Base Damage” and “Flat Damage” to describe the two linear damage categories because both terms can refer to other things.

  • Tenore  says:

Is Drain infection taken for any reason on the Nandi skill tree? The damage is very small and for myself I think I would rather put that skill point elsewhere. Is there any other benefit? If running Temporal primary, for the DRR debuff but with Intel?

    • Hellspawny  says:

Yeah, it’s very weak. But this is more or less a speedrun build, so any additional damage helps. You could also put that one point into armor or eng readiness.

      • Tenore  says:

That makes sense; I’m a bit underwhelmed by it I’ll check out what else I could shift it to. Thanks!

        • Hellspawny  says:

Unless you’re into fast l/r runs, I’d go with readiness.

  • r4n  says:

I still can’t believe that cryptic made a easy to get set with 100%+ cat2 dmg buff :/

    • Hellspawny  says:

But you have to work really hard to get it. My best time was 8:54.

  • Zartius  says:

One question about the quantum phase set .
1)For solo scenarios better survivability & dmg is the quantum still better than iconian?

    Thanks!

    • felisean  says:

Iconian set should be stronger from a survivability point of view.

  • Spica  says:

I may have to abandon Fluidic Cocoon trait. It was heavily nerfed to just 1 STACK. Formerly, it was 5 stacks. 🙁

    • felisean  says:

it was always 3 stacks, not sure if thats stil the case, last time i’ve checked it was but that was some patches ago.
Addendum: just tested it, stacks still 3 times.

  • Katias  says:

Quick question if you don’t mind. I run an all AP beam array arbiter. Is the crystalline absorption matrix console worth slotting for the boost to damage?

    • felisean  says:

could be a possibility in case you’re using all the better consoles like tachyokinetic/bioneural already or dont have the lobi to effort them 🙂

      • Katias  says:

I can afford the tachyokinetic… So I’ll swap that in place of the crystalline absorption matrix. Thank you very much!

        • Hellspawny  says:

Don’t forget the polymorphic probe array for +25% AP (base) damage

          • Ben  says:

is the polymorphic probe array better than for example assimilated module or temporal disentanglement suite?

          • felisean  says:

            @Ben

no its normaly not. Especially assimilated module + kinetic cutting beam in combination seems to be pretty strong again.

  • Katias  says:

    Got it, thanks!

  • wuascht  says:

how can i boost pet dmg, even my tholian fleet elite pets suck.

    • felisean  says:

with coordination protocols from tac skilltree, buffs from iconian set, concentrate firepower, debuffs like attack pattern beta, and some shiptraits like scramble fighters

  • wuascht  says:

    focused assault too?

    • felisean  says:

yes, wasnt a complete list of boff abilities 😉

  • wuascht  says:

ok thx, just wondering how people make over 20k with their pets , these boff skills cant do that, mine do 15 sometimes but mostly below 10k. from what ship is scramble fighters?

    • felisean  says:

It was from a rnd promo box or so, same box delta prime was from.

But 20k seems quite normal for frigatte pets, elite weaver pets could do 8k per ship, thats would be 32k dps just from the 2 hangars from a recluse (or 16 with a tarantula). Its always important that the pets actually shoot and not just fly around doing nothing which could be a problem. Sometimes it help to “refresh” the attack target for the pets

  • wuascht  says:

the eng scim build is using fbp, but not the ship trait? for what is fbp good then?

  • Gonzo  says:

Since you talked a bit about pets and we now have images that the upcoming Risa summer ship will be a [T6] Vorgon Carrier, could you put a Carrier build example online? I am a bit unsure if there would be bigger changes for a real carrier, instead of what we see with the Scimitar Dreads and the single pet.

    • felisean  says:

no, the builds are quite equal at the end. Just take one of the scimitarbuilds and try to build it as similar as possible on the carrier. So through bo layout you’ll see some minor changes but thats all at the end.
When the summer event ship is available, we will defnitly publish a build for that ship 🙂

  • Godimas  says:

    Hey guys

Just getting geared up with Season 13 (was away for a little bit playing Mass Effect) and I was wondering if I could get some suggestions…. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the Universe class ships. And I like flying it, a lot 😛 I know shes not the best DPS ship around (my best DPS is 51k with one of the command cruisers) but I want to make it work anyways. And its hard with so few tac slots 😛

Here is where I am at: http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/4fc6f52e6e8283bba4a275ede6a95973

Any feedback or thoughts would be much appreciated!

    • felisean  says:

      Looks solid as a build.
      Just a question/suggestions:
1)Could you really use the tactical flagship computer there? The dynamic power redistributor is a great console too 😉
2)Instead of Zero Point something else like Tachyokinetic converter or something with +AP dmg like polymorphic probes (was the name i think) or the dynamic power redistributor.
3)Have you thought about using temporal spec abilities like recursive shearing 3 and entropic redistribution? Especially recursive could do a lot of dmg when used correctly (with a good team around ^^)
      4) your skilltree is missing, but i would suggest a tac ultimate build there 😉
      5) i think the kentari weapon + supercharged is not that great at all, you’re loosing a lot of dps there would be my guess since the torpedo is not good at all. I would use an additional trait for survivability instead like Invincible.

  • Godimas  says:

I actually dont have that console at the moment. If there is something else that is better then the flagship console though, i am totally open to trying it out

How come the AP damage is better then the all power levels and crit chance provided by the zero point console? I seem to remember zero point being one of the gotos at one point in time

I have not actually, but I will totally try those out. What would you suggest replacing?

Totally forgot to put that in, sorry 😛 Still tree is the same as what was suggested here

I do have another beam bank that can go there, but I initially took it out and went with the torp because of the power drain nerf to plasmonic leech. You still think that 8 beams is the way to go though?

    • Godimas  says:

oh sorry. and are there any doffs you could recommend to go along with the temporal skills you mentioned? I could let go of my engineering team cdr in favor of more damage

    • felisean  says:

You could equip that flagship console only on a scimitar, oddy or bortasque variant, not on that ship you’re using. Replace that console and maybe the zero point module. You could try it but with supremacy, eptw+ewc, cuttingbeam+assimilated module it should be fine.

in addition, there are no doffs for temporal skills.

      • Godimas  says:

Awesome, thanks again for the tips!

        • Godimas  says:

One more quick question…. for ships with limited tac slots like this one, do you think that the CDR provided by the defensive drone guardians console is worth giving up a console slot for? Im leaning towards no, but was wondering your opinion too

          • felisean  says:

You would need more than this console, technically you want your fire at will on a 20 sec cd that you need only one. The easiest possibilities to reach that are with an a2bat build or the space trait reciprocity.

  • Godimas  says:

That is doable I think. Ok, made some adjustments based off of your comments and based off of what I have available to me at this time. The only thing missing form the linked build at the moment is the trait you mentioned, reciprocity, which i can get my hands on easy enough

    http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/4fc6f52e6e8283bba4a275ede6a95973

    • felisean  says:

I would still use one copy of Directed Energy Modulation + Marion francis Dulmur. Its stil a great combination and could help to have one FAW cycle without energy drain. As an eng you have nadion inversion too, so you could cycle it a bit 🙂

  • Kate  says:

    Hi Benni!
    Good to see you again!!
Looks like I have a lot of studying to do!

  • 000  says:

    go go kate ^^

  • wuascht  says:

can the flank thing make a difference of 20-30k or maybe more?

    • felisean  says:

it depend on the “base” dmg you’re doing but mostly i would say no.

    • 000  says:

The difference widens if you use abilities correctly

  • wuascht  says:

IS Plasma leech still worth for 7;5 power levels?, i feel like its not on intel ships and with supremacy, on command ships i guess it is to get the amp constantly.

    • felisean  says:

yes mostly it is. still a great console 🙂

  • wuascht  says:

what about the alliance 2 part set? looks like mostly people use the atlas console only

    • felisean  says:

in case you’re using disruptor or phaser or plasma weapons it could be defnitly worth it, but not if it cost you one tac console.

  • Einhorn  says:

What boffs have the best traits for Fed space dps? Also was wondering if I’m able to get an eng Nausicaan instead of the science one I have from diplomacy since the Hierarchy one came out, or if I’m locked into my choice.

  • Einhorn  says:

Also just for reference I use 2x tac superior Romulans, science is Heirarchy/Naussicaan. So since I’m assuming I can’t trade the Nausicaan for eng what should my first and 2nd eng choices be. Currently using a Talaxian for free mats and have a borg backup. Is k13 or Krenim boff better for eng?

    • Hellspawny  says:

You can discard the sci nausicaan and reclaim an eng one. Krenim helps with CDs. If you have problems with chaining abilities, take one.

  • Gobu  says:

Hey, Great work and thank you. I understand the new changes, but I am stuck on what to do for bridge officer abilities. So I have a few questions about it.
1.Would you change any of the bridge officer abilities on your particular Vengeance class build? Been using that, have been using TRB with the Doff Graga Mall to pull ships in.
    2. I also find myself dying with Pugs, since I aggro everything. Is there anything I should change in either Bridge Officers or consoles?
3.Is there a better ship for a Federation character? I have heard that the t6 oddy might be better, but was unsure.

    Again thank you.

    • Gobu  says:

      Tractor Beam Repulsors*

    • felisean  says:

not much i guess beside the obvious things 🙂

if you have problems with dying try epts+eptw combination, especially in combination with the shield overload (?) trait that gives you a massive damageresistance buff when using epts. another possibility would be to use reverse shield polarity with a vr fabrication doff to increase the duration.
in addition, the lukari sci ship console could be a great help too, since its extremly strong during the 20 seconds it runs. same with dynamic power redistributor.

      • Gobu  says:

Thank you again, will try that. Is it worth changing DRM for A2sif. And just to confirm that the tactical oddy or science oddy is better than the Vengeance ship. Trying to look for a more suited ship since it is a bit slow and rough to maneuver.
        Thanks.

        • Tenore  says:

I’m finding the Vengeance to be the strongest Fed ship at the moment by quite a bit due to strong pets, good boff layout, good mastery perks and good console layout as well. I used to use the Fed flagships last season but they cannot compete with the changes to balance despite being quite tanky.

          • Gobu  says:

Thanks man. Yeh the pets are great. Still trying to figure out a decent bridge layout though.

  • wuascht  says:

is there any set that boosts AP?

  • Hellspawny  says:

Obelisk Warpcore and Omni. Polymorphic Probe Array, Crystalline Absorption Matrix.

  • wuascht  says:

yeah i know, i was hoping i missed something :D, like a good console set. AP i kinda nerfed now.

    • felisean  says:

highest dps right now was made with beam consoles, cuttingbeam, terran task force array, 2 herald 3 delphic ap beams and the temp rep beam array:)

      • SomeDude  says:

Why so, is there anything special about the temp rep one?

        • Hellspawny  says:

It’s a pretty decent and cheap [Dmg]x4 beam.

          • felisean  says:

and more important, its a rainbow! fit perfect for the rest of the “rainbow” build 🙂

  • wuascht  says:

all beams have high dmg on this build?

    • felisean  says:

      crtdx2 dmgx2 and crtd dmgx3 🙂

  • Capt PhilSTO  says:

Damn Feli ! You just blew the record out of the sky once again ! Awesome work !! Its encouraging to see those numbers 🙂 The DPS chase is back …

On the Fed side, what console would you suggest for survivability ? FYI im running a – 75% th plasma console, im getting torn apart at times. I could get 160-175 with no deaths.

    • felisean  says:

dynamic power redistriutor is a extremly expensive but great def+off console atm. and maybe you could slot one copy of rsp or so? or one of the other strong healing consoles like protomatter field (lukari sci ship, last anniversary event) or the old samsar console

  • Promeign  says:

Is the ground build indicated in the notes of the eng Scimitar still useful?

  • Tenore  says:

IS the DPS League no longer updating higher end parses? I have 3 parses above 160k that were made between 4-6 days ago that aren’t reflected on your webpage

    • felisean  says:

should still work, but in case there are problems again just pm us ingame (or here again ^^)

      • Tenore  says:

        Lovely, thank you!

        • whicky1978  says:

          And share your build 😬

  • whicky1978  says:

I was able to get 3.0 CrtH with the temporal disentanglement suite. this is higher than whites reported in the description. I am using the Solane set on that toon.

  • whicky1978  says:

    Is this a decent set?

    https://sto.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Hypercooled_Technology_Set&mobileaction=toggle_view_mobile

    • felisean  says:

its decent in case you dont have something better, but its only for the breen ships and you defnitly want the 3 piece bonus for your energy weapons

      • whicky1978  says:

yeah I have slotted it in my engineering slots. i’m currently getting 26K in ISA. I was getting 40 K before season 13

  • whicky1978  says:

I wanted to use the Q-set but everbody said its no good and I shouls go with theIiconian set. Then season 13 came along. 😖😊

  • whick1978  says:

Check out this screenshot of me kicking butt with EPS corruption 😀

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_GQli9vXIMVY1JPaWVqLTRsZDg/view?usp=sharing

  • whicky1978  says:

I have engineering skill tree that lacks sci points. What can I do to boost long range target sensors?

    • Hellspawny  says:

Use fleet science skill boosts and hope for crits on specific doff assignments. Long range targeting sensors is one of the essential dps skills. Not choosing it is a mistake that cries for a respec.

      • whicky1978  says:

Yes it does cry for repec, I have plenty. I will eventually respec, and take my one point from drain and had to long rangs. My configuration gives me over 267-500+% EPS without equipment. I don’t think I even need drain or leech on this one. I need to get my weapons power over 125! I’m getting 19K in ISA we have this exotic engineering Romulan build. I get 40-50% crit chance.

  • 000908158  says:

dps is dead. There is no longer any value.
    100k, 200k, 300k So what?

    • whicky1978  says:

I come here to find out how I can maximize DPS with specific builds weather it bescience engineering or tactical. phasers, dispruptors, antiproton etc.

    • peterconnorfirst  says:

The value of DPS for me lies in the independence from bad players. 🙂

      • whicky1978  says:

Andthe ability to play all end game content! 😊

    • Hellspawny  says:

If it has no value for you, why bother and post?

      • peterconnorfirst  says:

You are right and that is a much more diplomatic answer. 🙂

  • Yankı Göker  says:

    Greetings Mates

I’ve recently build a vengeance based on your suggestions, i know the difference of “nursed” dps and random que dps(so im not aiming to score over 400k,in fact im only aiming solo). Recenly i saw a guy made about 150k on our run on random que, damn im so jealous 😀 , im putting my build here and i need advice people please 🙂 (btw also ground dps advice too)

    http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/9a47df18769a0be0ae46d267f8e10bc3

    ps.please check notes section too

    Cheers

    • Hellspawny  says:

I’d drop feedback pulse in favour of subspace vortex and photonic officer (if you need cd reduction for your tac skills. I’d also ditch the quantum phase set (was nerfed). Go Iconian or try Nukara shield and deflector plus fortified prevailing engine (add Aux2Sif). You should be able to keep your eng skills on global without a damage control eng. The turnrate and speed buff are crazy, so you’d want to drop pedal2metal.

      • whicky1978  says:

Are you able to train and subspace vortex? I would like to have this for some on my toons. or is it only you can get it from the lockbox?

        • Hyunmoo Sirius  says:

Subspace Vortex can be acquired as a drop from Infinity lockbox rewards. You cannot purchase that manual from Boff trainer. Only from lockbox, although it can be purchased on exchange.

          • Hyunmoo Sirius  says:

Also, I may keep Quantum Phase Applications set. Iconian’s Radiant Subatomic Pulse is 33% cat1 bonus. However, Energy Weapon Entanglement is up to 100%+ cat1 bonus – which made the latter somewhat better than Iconian.

          • whicky1978  says:

Can you the training manual be fabricated?

            • Hyunmoo Sirius  says:

No, Subspace Vortex cannot be crafted or fabricated as well.
Also, KLW and the other “lockbox-related” training manuals cannot be fabricated or crafted , only available from specific lockbox or on exchange.

              • whicky1978  says:

Thank you. That is helpful. But unfortunate.

      • Yankı Göker  says:

Great! thnx man for the advice cheers 🙂

  • Hyunmoo Sirius  says:

I’m still trying with 7+1 build to reach over 100k barrier.
Although there are many all-beam or all-DHC builds, I want something different.

7+1 build means 7 beams and 1 torpedo build.
And currently, my highest record with that build is around 98k – with Vengy (Sci career).

*Note: I’m only running my account with sci career. Other careers are somewhat inappropriate to my playing style. (Just in my case. There’ll be different to other ppl.)

  • Promeign  says:

If you aren’t too terribly busy you might like to pick this apart:

    http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/a71fd1cf595270ba5f9aac0e9b852c67

The goal for the build is mostly: Fed engineer with T6 flagship and phaser that can pull its own weight in any given stf.

I’ll appreciate any kind of advice.

    • felisean  says:

      hi,
your build does look decent, but you might wanna change some minor things.
      boff setup:
you might wanna switch the ltcm universal to tactical to get a faw3. Faw3 because you loose less dmg per shoot through that and the accuracy penality is lower. i think i would go with tacteam 1, beta1, faw3, kemo 1, designated target 1. in case you have problems with cd reductions, add in a faw2 for designated target 1.
the aceton beam itself is normaly not good at all, brings only minor dps at all, long cooldown, singletarget. you might wanna go with reverse shield polarity 1 instead, which will increase your survivablity massively.

      gear wise:
you might wanna try iconian set (defense+offensive potential on that one is pretty good) or for full offense the 2 piece nukara set for the 2 piece bonus. personally i would go with ico set most of the time. In addition the dynamic power redistributor is a great console, sadly extreme expensive for feds because its from the atlas class ship.

      playstyle:
you should always cycle apb=>kemo=>faw at the same time to get the most out of it. in addition run eptw all the time and activate it defnitly before the weapon cycle 🙂

      • Promeign  says:

I’m afraid I don’t know what you mean with designated target 1. The closest I can see would be the starship trait or otherwise distributed targeting, maybe focused assault?

        • felisean  says:

oh yea focused assault is the correct one, designated target was the name of the trait (and not good)

      • Promeign  says:

Also what console should I replace the dynamic power one with? The temporal disentanglement suite?

        • felisean  says:

yes or the delphic tear, depend a bit on what you wanna do. in case you could use the delphic tear propperly its pretty strong, but yea 😉

  • whicky1978  says:

You could get that quantum phase torpedo and have the three-piece set and have the super beam power 😁. That’s the first time I’ve seen that Tactical Advantage Set. I also like that endothermic inhibiter, its a affected by particle gens too, I have never noticed that either. I need to get my hands on this 😊.

    • Promeign  says:

Actually I’m thinking about taking the quantum beam out. Thanks to the set bonus it’s superior in shield damage to another crafted phaser, but it severly lacks against hulls. The shield heal is sadly not listed in CLR so I don’t really know how it stacks against something like the valdore console.

  • Hyunmoo Sirius  says:

NEW Starship Traits will be available:

+Duration of FAW When hit by energy weapons during FAW in effect. ; +0.33 sec per hit, up to +5 sec bonus.
So the duration of FAW can be increased by up to 5 (from 10 sec to ~15 sec) !

    • felisean  says:

      brace for powercreep!

  • Rykus83  says:

for Nandi season 13.5 I’m using a Nihyron destroyer its skill tree layout work for the top build in this reddit link TheEclipseOfDoom i just dont want to waste my respecs finding out a skill i took dont do anything for me.

  • Rykus83  says:

whats a good set of equipment fro space to get from missions to give you the leg up for doing rep grind for that gear, I’ been feeling like the little brother that Mom said to let play with for friends i’d like to at least be able to contribute to the combats more then there killing my so you aint getting hit. Im running a T6 Mogai (Morrigu) Beam build what sets from missions are good together right now im running Disruptor beams front the 4 piece set from melting pot mission, 3 pieces from the trilithium laced weaponry the trop, the 360 omni directional beam and athe engineer console from the set,and the other engineer consoles are a rank x eps flow reg, assimilated mod( my 1st rep gear i got) and universal absorptive freq gen. for tac consoles i run 5 Disruptor Induction Coil havent got the funds for getting the crit fleet consoles and in science 2 emitter arrays. and suggestions for what to get from missions that will help me be more useful when grinding rep fro the better equipment? Sorry for the long comment. 🙂

    • felisean  says:

From episodes? quantum phase set from the episode stormbound. in addition the disruptor weapon set (nausicaan set from echoes of light?) might be a possibility. for a disruptor build, the trilithum laced one is not that good at all, i would go with the martok 2 piece set instead.
Since you’re a romulan, you should buy the dynamic power redistributor+disruption pulse emitter from exchange (should be around 5 mil each). its a great set, great clickys and not that expensive at all 😉

  • Rykus83  says:

sound like a good purchase when i get that kinda of cash 🙂

  • whicky1978  says:

For the Winter Event use any ground traits/equipment that Add hit points and speed. I like to use the counter command armor.

  • whicky1978  says:

Is the breen singularity core from the winter event decent? I like the -15 weapon power cost.

    • felisean  says:

You could get that from crafted cores too
and i would always choose a spire core with amp over the breen one

      • whicky1978  says:

I was able to get it “free” by buying low and selling high with winter event currency. It could be upgraded to amp but I guess its not worth it unless you run the four piece set? It might be a good for a budget build. I am using the spire core and terran as well.

        • Hellspawny  says:

          It won’t get AMP.

        • whicky1978  says:

Well that negates any the -15 weapon power 😊

  • whicky1978  says:

Can the accuracy of FAW be improved after its starts and get ose to 98/99 % accuracy?

    • Hellspawny  says:

The only thing you’ll ever miss in an ISA are the Borg torpedos. So you could waste a personal trait slot with i.e. Precise or just come to terms with the fact that one or two shots won’t hit.

  • Rykus83  says:

i don’t know if this is the place to ask this in my fleets chat there talking about Torp. builds, and i’ve done some googleing on my own and found that science captains on science ships are a fav for these builds added with there exotic damage. What i was wondering does anyone have a tactical cpt. done yup i had asked my fleet and the spam chat with what there equipping but my brain is not comprehending it so was wondering if someone here has a tac torp build all done up that i could look at please.

    • felisean  says:

actually there is nothing a sci captain got to boost exotic stuff only, just one general buff with scramble sensors.
tac in return got go down fighting, attack pattern alpha and tactical fleet (should have the sci running too bc you know teamplay and so on ^^), all of them will boost exotic dmg too.
=> a tac captain with an epg build will always have higher results than a sci captain, the build itself will not really change 😉

if you want to talk to us direclty, feel free to join our discord or ask us ingame 🙂

  • Benjamin OD  says:

These guides are great, thank you for all the work!

    • felisean  says:

      thanks 🙂
always great to hear that they’re helpful 🙂
