  • Arnulf  says:

    hi,

nice to see some ground build suggestions!
Are there any plans for a ground channel?

    greetz

  • Wangitsch  says:

    Hi,

any new suggestions to ground kits and modules after the skill revamp?

    • felisean  says:

      Hi Wangitsch,

Ground kits with as much Kit Performance as possible are the best ones atm. So a normal Kitframe with kitperf x3 or a delta one with kitperfx2 and crth.
modules should be remain more or less the same.

      • Wangitsch  says:

ok, thank you! sounds very simple!

  • Wangitsch  says:

Where do i get the kit module “Graviton Spike”?

    • felisean  says:

      @Wangitsch:
its from the summer event store (if unlocked) and there should be an npc on risa too. the module cost 1000 lohlunat.

      • Jack  says:

Which Armor are you using for the DPS โ€“ I had it, but accidently deleted it

  • Wangitsch  says:

Markus, what is the last kitmodul in your build? No description available, seems like its greyed out.

  • Wangitsch  says:

and do you do ground buils for DPS, Eng and Sci in next time?

  • Jack  says:

Can we get an updated link to your ground builds now that STO academy has changed formats? Which Armor are you using for the DPS – I had it, but accidently deleted it

    • felisean  says:

Markus should’ve updated the ground builds some days ago ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Jack  says:

As of now you cannot get to the builds via the links – all I was asking is what armor for the DPS ground build, from which reputation.

        • felisean  says:

I cant reproduce the issue you’re mention, when i use the links (all of them) it open the builds and there are items in the ground/captain equippment slots (Captain & Ground => Equipment).

Normaly the best way is to use a advanced fleet recoil compensation armor for normal missions and the nukara reputation ev suit or a random suit with crth, crtd,en as mods, but markus might correct me on that one ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Aaron Erving  says:

I don’t see the kit set up for Science at all. Any idea what it is?

    • felisean  says:

Hm yea cant see it either, might be a problem with sto-academy.
I’m sure, markus will fix that as soon as possible ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Aaron Erving  says:

    I’d appreciate it a lot ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks!

    • felisean  says:

Looks a bit like that there are missing some kit modules at sto-academy right now. You might wanna ask @markus1566 ingame directly with a mail or tell ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Aaron Erving  says:

The kit build is up now. Thanks again big time!

  • Jake Raines  says:

i have found using the iconian ground set + the zefram shotgun makes really good DPS

  • Jake Raines  says:

BTW do you think we could get an updated build for ground DPS?
    thanks

    • felisean  says:

The builds should be updated, but some abilities arent available there.
You should check the NOTES too, normaly when something is missing its listed there.

      • Jake Raines  says:

ok well its just that the builds look like they where last updated before the new dawn update and im wondering if any new items can improve these builds

        • markus1566  says:

Well, some of the new Items are not in the thing to choose Kit Modules. I put them into the Notes section of the Builds. If anything remains unclear, its probably due to the fact the the newer stuff isnt as good as the equip on the builds.

          • Jake Raines  says:

            ok thanks for the information.

  • Stephan Stenz  says:

Hi ist das Techniker Build Up to Date?

    • felisean  says:

Ja ist es, notes lesen nicht vergessen ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Jake Raines  says:

I was looking at some stuff the other day and i have to ask how does the fleet recoil armor better at DPS then the herald armor?

    • felisean  says:

they are quite equal, if your fleet already has the advnaced fleet armor its just way cheaper than spending 200 lobi ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Wangitsch  says:

Bzw. wo bekommt man den her? Bekommt man den auf Nukara?

    • felisean  says:

      • BirdofPlayD3  says:

AAAAAHHHHHHHH, da habt ihr den her. Vielen Dank! Ich werd das mal mit den stรผndlichen Projekten probieren. Den anderen hab ich schon, also kann ich das mit den Stรผndlichen ja jeder Zeit aufgeben ^^

        Danke noch mal felisean!

        • felisean  says:

          Gern doch ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Tenore  says:

I’ve been seeing the Boolian Cannon a lot on ground queues, is it quite strong? Is the Herald Beam weapon and antiproton splitbeam rifle still the general dps weapon of choice?

    • felisean  says:

Depend on what you’re doing. A great overall weapon would be the herald staff because its great. Boolean is good for chasing dps numbers, the latest ntte records are made with that gun. But you should ask @soludor or @lordcruncher, they are the ground experts ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Tenore  says:

I’ve tried the Herald staff and is quite easy to use, I think I prefer the splitbeam rifle at the moment though. I might have to try the Boolean… lol Thanks for the reply!

  • whicky1978  says:

Could mixing two ground sets like the Romulan Navy and Nakhul or Omega sets allow you to stack your crits? On my romulan toon I’m thinking of mixing mixing the romluan sets to stack the crits.

  • bartek_bohdan  says:

Greetings, can we have suplemental with ground malee tactical build?

    • felisean  says:

I’m going to ask our ground experts ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Hellspawny  says:

      http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/e4d08ada619931ed49bdf78c8ecd3cae

If you’re going solo, your away team should have Motion Accelerator, Return Fire, Cold Fusion Flash, Paradox Bomb and ofc. Hypospray Dylovene (add a second Botanist). So much fun.

      • bartek_bohdan  says:

Thanks so much for ground malee. Biotech siphon is awesome ๐Ÿ™‚

      • whicky1978  says:

        No sweeping strikes?

  • whicky1978  says:

Looking at the NTTE ground build. I would add the Sentinel EV suit from the Lobi store.

  • whicky1978  says:

You can also go with the Solinae Striker ev suit for a budget build. I will have to try this myself. I usually just use the three piece Nukura ground. The Shattering harmonics has crit severity and could be used in cobination with the shattering sword but the sword is not good for the NTTE. But may be good build for the Nukura battlezone.

    • felisean  says:

One from the Nukara Reputation projects boxes with crth/crtd/en would be the best one. In case you dont have that one i would use the nukara reputation one since its easy to get and a decent one ๐Ÿ™‚
otherwise one of the solonae ones ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Bariman  says:

Greetings! Since I check these forums periodically for ideas, I decided to share something thing has been working well for me. This seems to work great as generic Romulan setup:

[Romulan Imperial Navy Profession-Specific Kit Mk XIV … (20% to plasma)
[Romulan Imperial Navy Combat Armor Mk XIV] (50% to secondary)

[Kentari Fortified Personal Shield Mk XIV]
[Kentari Partisan Residuum Thrower Mk XIV] (2-piece set bonus: 20% to plasma)

[Plasma Repeater Pistol Mk XIV … (unless there’s a better plasma weapon)

    personal trait (10% to plasma)

    What do you think?
Does 50% boost in plasma make up for the lack of KPerf mods?
    Am I missing something?

    • Bariman  says:

Upon reflection, I concede that this is more of solo setup than for groups.

      • whicky1978  says:

I might try this with my roman toon.

  • weaselone  says:

I’ve used a similar build on some of my Romulans. I swap the Kentari 2-piece set for the Nakuul 2-piece because I prefer the added survivability. Some of the mods on the Romulan Imperial Navy Kit are random so you can get a KPerfx2 if you repeat the mission enough. Makes it comparable to a delta kit. You can also sacrifice the secondary bonus and swap out the RIN Combat Armor for the CritD fleet recoil compensating armor.

You’re trading a KPERF mod (and ease in obtaining it) for a CRITX and the 20% plasma damage which constrains your primary weapon choice.

I’m a big fan of the wide beam plasma rifle. You can pick up the Level I versions from the Romulan Weapon vendor on New Romulus and uprade until you get the desired mods.

    • Bariman  says:

I didn’t know they the mods for that kit were random. I wish I knew that before I upgraded it. I’ll try redoing it, but there’s only so many times I can redo a mission before I get sick of it.

      • sorby  says:

lol if that number is less than 100.

  • whicky1978  says:

For a melee build I would Counter-Command Exo-Armor or an amor that boost melee damage as a budget build.

  • whicky1978  says:

I was one of the lucky ones to get the Romulan imperial navy kit at epic for free as the name game reward. i’m using it in combination with the Romulan operative set. (two two-piece sets).

  • Sarianden  says:

I’m not able to access the builds linked to, above. I’ve tried Internet Explorer and Chrome. Any suggestions?

    • felisean  says:

Maybe you blocked the scripts or the stoacademy website was down, not sure. In case it doesnt work today too, feel free to pm us ingame ๐Ÿ™‚

  • r4n  says:

cant enter any of builds in http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com its saying LOADING and nothing happens :/

    • felisean  says:

you need to allow the scripts running at stoacademy. but in general its an external side and we’re just using them, try to contact their admin if the problem still exist ๐Ÿ™‚

  • whicky1978  says:

What is the best modifiers for Ground weapons now that we have Re-Engineering? Is it CritDx4 or should CritD be mixed with CritH?

  • STO guy  says:

i keep hearing people say they prefer full auto rifle for ground dps… is there any point to them considering their single target dps is so low compared to other weapons?

    • Hellspawny  says:

That’s a good question. Maybe one of those guys can answer it. I don’t see a reason not to take the Advanced Herald or Boolean or Plasma Wide Beam Rifle Mk XIV [CrtD]x4 [Dm/CritD] or a Pulsewave.

  • whicky1978  says:

Is the mini gun viable with Deadly Intent? Are the Spire Kit frames best if you are on a budget? The colony ones seem decent too.

    • felisean  says:

for the kit frames, i would prefere the colony one with as much kperf as possible.

and a minigun hm yea not really sure about that. my personal choice would be a plasma wide beam rifle (the mk1 version could be bought at new romulus command) and upgrade that, or maybe a split beam rifle with run mod or so (all if you dont want to use the herald lobi weapon or the boolean gun)

  • whicky1978  says:

I use the split beam alot. Iโ€™ve not tried the wide beam. The mini gun is alot of fun but has a long cool down.

  • Rykus83  says:

For your tactical melee guide is thee another armor you suggest then the Herald Tactical Combat Armor something not on the Lobi store?

    • felisean  says:

you could use a normal fleet armor with crtd (mod it for hpx3 ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) or an ev suit with crth/crtd/meele dmg

  • Rykus83  says:

i was reading another forum and they mention Counter-Command Exo-Armor as its a little better then getting physcial augmentation armor and one other but i cant think of it might just be what you said a feelt armor of EV suit. now for the ev suit is there any one in particular like the armored ones from nukara and do the 2 piece of Shattering Harmonics

    • felisean  says:

since you will have extremly high crth values with meele (because of the doffs increasing your crth) the crtd armor should be way better ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Dues  says:

If I’m using an Engineer what mods should I have on the Boolean and TR-116B?

    • felisean  says:

crtd or dmg, both work. depending on the situation one or the other is better.

  • Kenshin  says:

I’ve neglected ground far too much since starting this game. Currently using all counter-command on my tac but will look to copying the allrounder tac guide assuming this is current/relevant?

On a different note, does it matter much what BOFFs you use? i.e. races/specials

    • felisean  says:

Yes the build is stil good.

for boffs personally i prefere holograms or so, because they dont need an ev suit ^^
in addition, i would equip one of my ground bos with the omega 3 piece set (teamwide buff, always active) and one with the iconian 3 piece set (teamwide buff, used from the boff)

    • weaselone  says:

I’m not a DPS expert, but I also like the Holographic Duty officers for the same reason. They also come with fairly solid resists. Holographic Kurland is a decent engineer – he lacks damage enhancements for himself, but has Veteran and Teamwork so he’s solid team player especially with the Omega 3 piece or Iconian set added. Plus he’s dirt cheap on the exchange. Holographic Dukan’Rex and Sarish Mina are solid tactical officer choices. Dukan’Rex is probably better for damage with his traits, but Sarish is cheaper on the exchange, is healed more efficiently thanks to Superior Spiritual and has Superior Creative Trait. A good science ground boff is Nelen Exil from the Dyson Reputation as he has superior creative and can rise from the dead every 90 seconds. Another good Science Boff (Federation only) is 0718 from the Temporal Agent Packs for essentially the same reason, but with Android resists and less frequent resurrection.

      • weaselone  says:

        Two quick things to add.

        1. All the choices above are either completely restricted or very limited in what can be done to them in the tailor, so not good choices if space Barbie is king. They also aren’t so overwhelmingly powerful that you need to give up on a theme, or matching uniforms for your bridge crew just to run with them.

        2. Your starting Federation Tactical Bridge Officer (Elisa Flores, Tarsi, Elisa Flores dressed in the skin of a Discovery Era Cadet) is a fairly solid choice as well, particularly as you have to keep them.

  • Kenshin  says:

Good stuff, thanks for the tips!

  • Casualsto  says:

When fishing for boffs you need to seek a few specific traits : Veteran (team buff), superior luck (4.5+ crit chance), Superior Aggression (damage cat2+ threat gen), Soldier/Superior Soldier (dmg+critd) and then focus on giving them weapons with lower firing rate. They work wonders with pulsewave rifles or sniper rifles. The worst type of weapon to slot on a ground boff is a wide beam / split beam weapon. They break your exploit attacks and they’re not firing timing-dependant secondaries in a satisfavtory manner. Best ground boffs remain Klingons with Superior Luck wearing pulsewave assault rifles with adv targeting fleet armors (+10% crth).

    • weaselone  says:

I might have to try that type of set up. Is it worth giving up the team bonus from some of the sets, and do the Boffs use the pulsewave assaults properly? Also, what sort of team composition and skills do you run with on the Boffs? Thanks!

  • Casualsto  says:

This is just the first example – and not the only one viable, but just as a sample:
    Away team:
Tac: (Antiproton pulsewave assault – fleet)
Eng: (Sniper rifle, TR or even MACO set)
Sci: (Omega Ground set 3 piece set)
Sci: (Iconian ground 3 piece set)

    Boff abilities:
Tac: battle strategies 1, suppressing fire 1, overwatch 1, fire on my mark/motion accelerator.
Engi: weapons malfunction, recharge shield, paradox bomb 1 (Temp ops), mortar.
Sci: med tricorder, tricorder scan, vascular regenerator, nanite health monitor.
Sci: electrogravitic field, tricorder scan, hyperonic radiation 1, paradox bomb 3(temp ops).

    • weaselone  says:

Thanks for your response. The basic theme of what you’re running with is similar to mine. I have to try out the Antiproton pulsewave on my tactical officer instead of the plasma wide beam rifle I have been using.

  • Casualsto  says:

Indeed. Avoid giving your boffs weapons that consume exposes (exploit attacks) on multiple targets. They’ll simply mess up and fire them in random unwanted moments up to a level where you’d say that they’re doing this on purpose. Lol. If you don’t want to use reputation gear for boffs, Adv Fleet AP pulsewaves with advanced fleet targeting armors (10crth) are the best cookie-cutter solutions.

  • SeaOfSorrows  says:

So, I have a question.. figure this might be the best place to ask.

I routinely do Elite Ground Maps with my Fleet, I always play a Tactical Officer and I do quite well. I am not a great ground player by any means, but I am solid and can contribute to a group.. as long as I am a Tactical Officer. Now, I know that Engineers are behind Tacticals, I understand that if I play an Engineer, I will not be doing the damage a Tactical puts out.. but my problem is that I am completely inept with an Engineer.

I am thinking of rebuilding my Engineer, I am currently leaning toward the following for my kit Modules. Current Kit is KPerfx2, using the standard suggested DPS Skill Tree.

    Chronoton Mine Barrier
    Cloaked Mine Barrier
    Neutronic Mortar
    Harmonic Resonance Field
    Pavo Crystal Prism

How does this sound for a damage focused build? I am thinking set up the Mortar, place Mines in the heart of the battle. Use the Resonance Field when enemies are being sucked in (I want to carry a Paradox Bomb, but I can’t fit it in.) And the Prism for setting up damage fields. The people I play with also carry the Prisms, so that contributes to why I would carry it. Most of them also use Paradox bombs to pull people in, so I am thinking I can leech off their Bombs using my Resonance Field.

    Specialization: Temporal/Commando
    Weapon: Herald Staff

Gear is the typical Nakuul 2pc, Fleet Recoil Armor, all Epic.

Does this look any good? I currently use Healing/Support stuff.. and it’s not very practical. I have used Drones too, and I don’t find it very effective. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

    • felisean  says:

      hey
      yea seems reasonable ๐Ÿ™‚

you might wanna vary it a bit based on the mission, so in mission where you just run around all the time, an echo papa drone instead of one of the mine barriers might work too. explosive drone would be one of my favorites too, bc its a strong flying aoe ^^

in addition i woudl change the neutronic mortar for a photon grenade launcher. you could get that one from k13, exchange or via tos tutorial ๐Ÿ™‚

the most important for an eng with mines is actually to know the spawn positions from enemies. if you know them, place your mines there and you will blow up everything. combine that with adrenal release and aim+mental acuity to buff your mines and other things.

as a weapon it depend a bit on. personally i like the boolean to use between placing mines and other stuff, fit well. other great weapons are always the herald staff, plasma widebeam rifle, tommygun, the hurq lobi weapon,.. to name a few great ones

hope that help. if you have more questions you should talk with @soludor directly ingame ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Hellspawny  says:

Just to add sone visuals to Feli’s post, here’s my ground setup for my latest Eng:
    https://imgur.com/a/1TKlR5x

Now, I know that Engineers are behind Tacticals,…

    No, they aren’t ๐Ÿ™‚

    • SeaOfSorrows  says:

Looks good, what is the 3rd kit module? It’s some type of drone, but I don’t know which one.

      • SeaOfSorrows  says:

Nevermind, found it.. it’s a Seeker Drone. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • SeaOfSorrows  says:

Ok, sounds good.. thanks guys. I’ll give the Drones another try.. I have them, they just didn’t really seem to do that much, but I’ll give them another shot. You guys have given me some ideas to work with, I’ll keep at it. Thanks again!

    • Hellspawny  says:

/bind c “+crouch $$ +aim $$ PetCommands_SetAllToOwnerAttackTarget” helps to boost your damage (Mental Acuity is your friend). And ofc. large overboosters.

      • SeaOfSorrows  says:

That’s a huge help.. thank you!

    • peterconnorfirst  says:

      Hey Sea. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yea with the drones has been my observation as well. But be assured that similar to the new Pahvo crystals their contribution is considerable. Thing is you kind of need to see the DMG they do over the duration of a run in the combat log. Unlike on a tac where you funnel much boom through your ground weapon (and the critters melt in front of you) the pets of an engineer do it on their own and do so more in the background from a visual impression. But their contribution is quite present. On my eng I currently favor:

      – Explosive Drone
      – Seeker Drone
      – Chronotron Mine Barrier
      – Photon grenade launcher (23c Mortar)
      – Pahvo Crystals

On some maps like MIE some crowd control stuff like paradox bomb or gravitational juncture works well in which case the seeker drone or the mortar has to take a break for me.

      • SeaOfSorrows  says:

I re-did my Drone Build and tested it this afternoon.. I am not sure why I was underwhelmed the first time, but with the revamp it’s doing quite well now.

I have the Explosive Drone, Echo Papa, and a Support Drone with the Assault Drone trait. I also have the Methuselah drone from K-13. That will be replaced by Seeker Drone after the next upgrade weekend (I have a couple at Mark II.) I am currently using Neutronic Mortar, that will be replaced with Photon Grenade Launcher next upgrade weekend (I re-ran the 23c Tutorial to get a few of em.)

The last slot is currently Chroniton Mine, I swap that out as needed with the Pavo Crystal depending on the map and the team. I also have the Paradox Bomb to sub in as the situation warrants, usually it replaces the Mortar.

So far it’s doing a lot better then my old setup was doing, it’s pretty cool to watch all those drones swarming around shooting at stuff. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Casualsto  says:

Any chance on giving these babies an update for 2019/post-discovery era?

  • Dradin  says:

Is there an updated ground DPS build with all the new gear?

    • felisean  says:

the major update is to replace the armor with the new discovery rep ev suit ๐Ÿ˜‰

as main weapon the lobi dsc full auto rifle is a good choice

and module wise the pull+dmg module from the discovery rep could be useful for some builds.

      • zartius  says:

About the armor you mean the “Burnham’s CQC Environment suit” right? Thanks!

        • Herman Andersen  says:

Enviromental only for NTTE parse, in BHE and all others the normal Burnham is better.

          • Hellspawny  says:

The normal armor just adds a bit more resistance. I would not invest in in the same item twice.

            • Herman Andersen  says:

Well like in space every % can count :-), its not that expensive to get twice, but start with the environmental version and if you have spare marks get the other one some other day. Its a win-win i think.

  • Herman Andersen  says:

Hi all, since the Bug event im looking at the records for BHE , but i would be interested to know how you can get to 3000 or 5000 dps (and higher) on ground?

I managed to get 1 char to over 1k and another to 800 and those where numbers i thought nice, well done ๐Ÿ™‚

    So how is it done?

    • felisean  says:

like in space, the highest numbers are usualy a team effort ๐Ÿ™‚
so with a few dedicated buffers/debuffers to support you doing the dps. if you want to know more feel free to contact us directly via discord or ingame ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Scott  says:

Anyone got a deimos pvp build load out?

For armor and shields with modifiers that can be re-engineered, what’s the best option? Is it better to go for pure [HP]/[Cap], pure [RegHP]/[Reg], or a mix of the two?

Also, is it worth getting [ResAll] in the epic slot or in other slots if the armor allows it? For instance, the Gamma Task Force ground set can be fully re-engineered, and one normal modifier slot on the armor allows [ResAll] where the rest don’t, and then you can get it again in the epic slot with [HP/Res].

I typically just throw [CritD]x4 on my weapons and [CrtD/Dmg] on the epic slot, because I can get a lot of crit chance on all my best builds. Seems to work really well. Armor and shields have never been as clear to me, and I rarely see anyone talking about those modifiers. Probably because they don’t matter much, but I’m still curious.

i would go for [HP] i guess, that one should give you the most since your resitances are pretty high already

So resistances and regen aren’t as useful as straight up health and shields? I kinda already figured that, but I wasn’t sure. I’m sure it’s a lot like weapon mods in that way, [Dmg] is best unless you have a ton of crit chance to justify using [CrtD].

just health for the armor is what i’m usualy using if possible
heal is via boff abilities like motivation, rally cry or so from a buff tac cpt and always crouch as long as its not a meele mob when engaging enemies.
when engaging first you should do is crouch (c) and aim (x) for less dmg and more dmg done.

for crtd, on ground you usualy have a LOT of crth due to armor, gambling device and traits. crtd and dmg both works, the calculation is equal to the space dmg vs crtd.
